National vs Local Garage Door Company

Recently, we had a gentleman come in and ask for warranty service on a garage door he recently had installed. We looked up his name in our system and found we did not to the install. After discussing with the gentleman, he said he had found a garage door company that claimed they were in Lee’s Summit as they were using a local number. The gentleman believed he was calling a local, homegrown company to do the service and thought it was us as we are the only long-standing and local garage door company in Lee’s Summit.

The company he actually used was a national garage door company posing as a local company. Because they are national, these companies do not have the extensive training and experience that a local garage door company has. There is high turnover and a more sterile approach to customer service compared to local owned and operated companies.

Another thing that happens with national garage door companies are price hikes. We also recently received a call from someone checking our prices on a repair. Without seeing the job site, we were able to guess the repair cost would range between $300 and $350. The customer was amazed as they had been quoted twice that amount by a franchise location.

When you choose a national company or a franchise location, you lose something in customer service, quality workmanship, and can often be charged more needlessly due to corporate pricing and policy.
