Door Systems Inc Donates $5,000 to One Good Meal

Door Systems of Lee’s Summit has donated $5,000 to One Good Meal , a not for profit incorporated organization dedicated to providing hot meals to seniors and homebound regardless of income in Lee’s Summit, to help support our local community during this time of uncertainty and urgent need. Jim Payne, owner of Door Systems of Lee’s Summit, knows individuals and small businesses have been tremendously affected as the COVID-19 cases continue to increase in the KC metro area; and believes One Good Meal can make a difference.

For the last 20 years, One Good Meal has been dedicated to delivering meals to seniors and home-bound individuals regardless of income. “Your gift purchased over 1,111 noon-time meals for those who are not able to pay for themselves. Because we are a 100% volunteer organization, all gifts and funds raised at fundraising events are used to purchase meals for our clients who cannot pay all or part of the cost of a meal,” said Roberta McArthur, Director of One Good Meal, in thanking Door Systems for their donation. Volunteers deliver over 100 individually wrapped meals weekdays during lunch. As we move forward into unchartered territory in living with the pandemic, this number along with the need for urgent funding is expected to grow.

One Good Meal also thanks Hy-Vee for supplying main dish entrees and vegetables at reduced prices and for their many volunteers. On an average day they need at least ten drivers to deliver meals and enough volunteers to bake desserts for 140 people.

Door Systems encourages other businesses to donate as they can and to reach out to each other as opportunities present themselves to help. Stated best by Matt Baird, President of the Lee’s Summit Chamber, “We are all in this together as this is going to impact ALL of us. This isn’t industry specific.”

Door Systems of Lee’s Summit believes in supporting their Lee’s Summit community. They participate in Have a Heart Month each February and donate 10% of their overall February sales to their customer’s choice of charities. They advocate for Lee’s Summit education, have donated to Lee’s Summit Christian Academy and donate to initiatives specific to Lee’s Summit High Schools.

One Good Meal is actively seeking corporate sponsors willing to help. This partnership is critical and will enable them to serve more meals to meet the needs of the seniors and anyone not able to afford them. If you are interested or know someone who is interested in helping, please contact One Good Meal at 816-547-6394 or onegoodmealinfo@gmail.com
